Introducing our Sri Emas IGCSE High Achiever with 10 A*s, Chloe Pong Zhi Xuen!
There was a time when Chloe found First Language English frustrating. She struggled to understand what was expected of her and wasn’t seeing the results she wanted. Rather than letting that stop her, she kept practising, worked on the areas she found difficult and gradually watched her confidence — and her grades — improve.
That determination has carried Chloe a long way. After four years at Sri Emas International School, she completed her IGCSEs with an outstanding 10 A*s, across subjects including Mathematics, the Sciences, Economics, Accounting, ICT, English, Bahasa Melayu and Mandarin Chinese. Her academic achievements also build on several years of being recognised as a top student and highest achiever across multiple subjects.
But Chloe’s journey at Sri Emas was about more than her results. Once quite shy, she credits presentations, acting, creative projects and other learning experiences with helping her become more confident while developing her communication, creativity and leadership skills. Just as importantly, she remembers a school environment where teachers were approachable, encouraging and always willing to help.
One teacher who made a particular difference was her Mathematics teacher, Teacher Joceyln. Chloe wasn’t always confident in the subject, but Joceyln’s patience, dedication and willingness to answer her many questions — even after school — helped make Mathematics easier to understand and motivated Chloe to keep practising.
